mindfulness for life

The essence of mindfulness
is learning to relate to yourself
with kindness.

In a war against yourself
there is no way to win.

Mindfulness-based therapy is a different strategy.

mindful therapists in kitchener

Mindfulness-based  therapy is not just about learning a technique. A skilled therapist shares in a unique process with you that is grounded in their ability to be present and authentic.

A mindfulness approach involves connecting to what’s actually happening in the here-and-now, opening to things as they are. This is where new possibilities can be found and new experiences can happen.

Instead of automatic reactions of judgment, control or avoidance, we try to slow down together, get curious, bring warmth – and let you reconnect with who you are. In this way it is possible to feel at home in our own bodies and our minds – even in times of pain and confusion.

somatic psychotherapy in KW

Somatic Psychotherapy invites the body into psychotherapy. This helps us connect with deeply felt parts of our experience.

Some experiences can’t be fully addressed in words – such as emotions, difficult or early memories. In body-based therapies we pay gentle attention to your felt experience, supported with skills and actions you can do in the here and now, that bring depth and create change in how you are feeling.

Somatic therapy is particularly powerful for addressing and healing trauma, emotion regulation and PTSD – whether it’s the impact of a single event, or the complexity a difficult childhood. These experiences injure our nervous systems, but we somatic therapy for trauma helps the nervous system recover.

therapy for the big questions

People with diverse experiences and identities are welcome here. If you’re new to psychotherapy there’s no pressure to know what to do – we’ll help you find what’s right for you.

We love to work with creatives, queer and trans people, neurodivergent people and frontline workers. Our clients are often seeking a deeper connection to themselves and others, facing big transitions, losses or upheavals in life.

Our therapists have training and practice in holding space for spirituality, meaning, or existential questions that can come up at times of struggle and transformation.

We hold space to honour racialized trauma, climate grief, and other kinds of pain it can be difficult to hold alone.

We are lifelong learners and critical thinkers, ready to meet you where you are.

what to expect in therapy

Psychotherapy research shows that it’s important to find a therapist who will *get* you.

Get started in therapy with a free introductory consultation with the therapist. This call will help you get a feel for whether you think the therapist is someone you connect with. We will take 10-20 minutes to briefly go over what’s bringing you to therapy, and you can ask any questions you have before getting started.

If you’re not sure what to ask, the therapist will help you get a sense of what they’re like to talk to, and what you might expect when working with them.
